Haddaf keeps up family tradition in National Stakes!
Just over a year since stable favourite Lamar retired to the breeding sheds, her half-brother Haddaf has now taken over her mantle.
Saif Ali’s son of Dawn Approach, started out with a neck defeat at Leicester, followed by a narrow loss at Ascot by the same margin, but yesterday evening at Sandown he stepped up again – finishing third in the Listed National Stakes, going down by just a length and a neck despite an unfavourable draw and a troubled passage through the race.
Looking like a step up to six furlongs will see him improve again, he was doing all his best work at the finish and did well to force his way through a narrow gap and gain important black type for his family. An audacious tilt at the Group Two Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot over six furlongs is now on the cards.
