SHIMMERING DAWN GETS HER BLACK TYPE AT THE LAST ATTEMPT!

Shimmering Dawn left it late to get her deserved Black Type when finishing a creditable third in the Listed Queen Charlotte Stakes at Chelmsford.

Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum’s five year-old daughter of Morpheus has been a stable favourite, winning six times and achieving an official handicap rating of 99.  However, time was running out for the mare to gain that all important Black Type as she was covered by the Champion Juvenile Too Darn Hot in April and going into the Listed event she was 87 days in foal…

Given a typically excellent ride by Ryan Moore, she tracked the leaders and finished well down the middle of the track to pass the post in third place and in doing so cement her place at stud.  She is now retired to the paddocks and we look forward to seeing her offspring!
